A Newhall man wanted for an outstanding domestic violence warrant was arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies on suspicion of a “ghost gun” charge Monday, according to L.A. County Sheriff’s Department records.
Deputies arrested the 45-year-old on suspicion of possessing an unserialized firearm. The circumstances surrounding his most recent arrest and the nature of the weapons investigation were not immediately made available by SCV Sheriff’s Station officials.
A station official indicated the domestic violence warrant stemmed from a local incident that happened July 21, according to an email Tuesday by Deputy Mariela Picard, spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
“Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a domestic violence incident near the intersection of Costa Brava and Valle Del Oro in Newhall. The suspect and victim, who are in a dating relationship, were involved in a physical altercation with the victim,” she wrote.
There were no injuries reported at the time of the suspect’s arrest, she said, adding he was booked on suspicion of three misdemeanor charges: domestic battery, possession of a ghost gun and possession of a concealed firearm.
The suspect remains in custody at Men’s Central Jail as of this story’s publication in lieu of $55,000 bail, according to LASD records. His court date was not immediately available.
