The William S. Hart Union High School District governing board is recommended to approve two grants aimed at supporting education and student services during Wednesday’s meeting, according to the agenda.
The two awards recommended for approval are the Career Technical Education Incentive Grant Award and the Adult Education and Family Literacy and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Acts Grant.
The Technical Education Incentive will be in the amount of $2.3 million and will be used to accomplish grant project goals until June 30, 2027, according to the agenda items.
The grant aims to provide students with hands-on laboratory and studio experience using industry-standard equipment and college-aligned curriculum. This will allow the district to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to transition into employment and post-secondary education, according to the agenda report.
Golden Oak Adult School will be the recipient of the Adult Education and Family Literacy and Workforce Innovation grant in an amount of $235,338. It will accomplish grant project goals up until June 30 of this year.
The grant will help pay for partial salaries for certified and classified staff, and integrate English literacy and civics education class offerings, according to the agenda item.
Both grants aim at reinforcing student learning and instructions, access and equity, and financial and human resources within the Hart district’s strategic plan goals.
Other items on the agenda include a school site report for Castaic High School, a presentation highlighting the district’s world language programs and recognitions including student award winners for the Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest and West Ranch High School’s marching band as the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association Division 5A winners.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the district office located at 21380 Centre Pointe Parkway.
