There are four names on the ballot in the June Primary race for the 40th Assembly District, which is intended to whittle down the choices to two for November’s election.
The incumbent seeking re-election in the race is Pilar Schiavo, D-Chatsworth, who was first elected to the office in 2024.
She has three Republican challengers for the June 2 race.
Elizabeth Wong Ahlers, a Crescenta Valley Town Council member from 2022-2024, previously ran for the 25th State Senate District in 2024 as a Republican.
Andreas Farmakalidis is a Republican from Northridge, who founded California MusicBox, and also works as a music professor.
Rickey Tracy Hayes did not have a website listed but had a Valencia address and stated occupation as lineman/entrepreneur/businessman.
The latest voter-registration report shows a little over 343,000 registered voters in the 40th Assembly District as of the Dec. 30 data from the Secretary of State’s Office. Just over 40% are registered Democrats and just over 30% are Republicans. About 22%, or
76,222 voters, are registered as no-party preference.
