Canyon Theatre Guild is performing the comedy, Marc Camoletti’s “Boeing Boeing,” weekends through April 26.
This 1960s French farce debuted in London in 1962 and earned a Tony Award on Broadway for best revival in 2008. The adaptation for the English-speaking stage follows self-styled Parisian lothario Bernard, who has Italian, German and American fiancées, each a beautiful airline hostess with frequent “layovers.”
He keeps “one up, one down, and one pending” – until unexpected schedule changes bring all three to Paris, and Bernard’s apartment, at the same time.
Director Barry Agin said of the show, “Boeing Boeing is a classic French farce by Marc Camoletti about a Parisian bachelor, Bernard, who juggles three fiancées. Chaos erupts when a new, faster Boeing jet and a storm cause all three women to be in Paris at the same time, leading to Bernard, along with his best friend Robert and his French maid Berte, to engage in a frantic and hilarious attempt to keep them from discovering each other.”
“Soars right out of its time zone and into some unpolluted stratosphere of classic physical comedy,” said a New York Times review of a previous production.
“Boeing Boeing” runs through April 26, and showtimes are 2 p.m. March 28, April 11, 12, 19, 25; 7 p.m. April 4, 18, 26; and 8 p.m. April 24.
