The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday it rejected a case filing from the county Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Unit involving a man accused of sexually assaulting a teen in January.
Sgt. Joseph Mesa, who leads the Special Victims Unit, said the investigation “is ongoing and in the early stages,” in an email Jan. 6, the day after George Valle’s arrest, adding detectives did not believe there was any danger to the community.
However, the following day, the DA’s Office had already sent the case back for more information.
“It looks like a case against this individual was sent back to law enforcement for further investigation on Jan. 7, 2026,” according to an email Wednesday from Venusse Dunn with the Bureau of Communications in the DA’s Office.
Deputies arrested 35-year-old Valle on suspicion of violating section 261(a)1 of the California Penal Code, which involves the sexual assault of a person incapable of giving consent.”
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a call regarding a possible sexual assault at Soledad Canyon Road and Camp Plenty Road, near the Santa Clara River wash on Jan. 5.
Deputies found Valle there, according to an email from Mesa, which was sent shortly after the arrest. He indicated Valle was taken into custody without incident.
The DA’s Office also wrote that a separate, unrelated case was moving forward against Valle involving a petty theft allegation.
Valle, who was listed as a transient in his LASD citation, failed to appear to a Feb. 2 court date without a sufficient excuse, according to Santa Clarita Courthouse records. He was “cited out,” or released by local deputies three days later and given his May court date.
