Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials responded along with medical assistance to La Mesa Junior High School in Canyon Country regarding a possible overdose, although school officials said Tuesday they could not comment on any student’s medical condition.
Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Station, said she could only confirm station deputies and L.A. County Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the school at 12:27 p.m. for a medical call involving a 13-year-old student.
Debbie Dunn, spokeswoman for the William S. Hart Union High School District, said 911 was called regarding a student who was found unconscious shortly before 12:30 p.m.
She said Narcan was administered “out of an abundance of caution” based on the situation.
She confirmed the student was conscious and breathing when leaving the campus in an ambulance.
L.A. County Fire Department officials confirmed they were dispatched to a medical rescue at the school at 12:31 p.m. and emergency medical technicians were there by 12:38 p.m. There was no information available regarding any patient injuries or medical status.
