The top two teams in the Foothill League tennis standings battled on Thursday with the West Ranch Wildcats claiming the narrow win, 10-8, over the visiting Golden Valley Grizzlies.
In the first round of singles play, the Grizzlies (8-3, 5-2) took two of the three points with the lone victory for West Ranch coming from Saivya Shrivastav.
In the second round, the Wildcats (7-1, 7-0) swept all three matchups and secured three points. And in the third round, the Wildcats recorded two of the three points with Ryan Chung and Shrivastav securing points for West Ranch.
Rowan Andres was the lone victor for Golden Valley in the third round and defeated Nathan Quach of West Ranch.
The Wildcats defeated the Grizzlies 6-3 in singles play.
In the first round of the doubles play, the Grizzlies came out strong and secured two of the three points with the pairing of Emaad Islan and Neil Agrawal winning their matchup, 6-3.
In the second round, the Grizzlies secured another two wins with the pairing of Islam and Agrawal winning 6-1 over the West Ranch pair of Sage Correa and Adhith Theyver.
But in the third round, the Wildcats secured two of the three points with Inhyeok Hwang and Daniel Lee winning 6-2.
In the end, the Grizzlies narrowly defeated the Wildcats 5-4 in doubles, but it was not enough as West Ranch held on for the overall win.
With the win, the Wildcats secured their seventh Foothill League win of the season and will look to keep winning in their next contest against the Castaic Coyotes at home on Tuesday.
The Grizzlies will look to bounce back in their next league game on Thursday against the Coyotes at Castaic High School.
Both games are set to begin at 3 p.m.

Hart 12, Canyon 6: The Hart Hawks (3-5, 3-4) secured the road win over the Canyon Cowboys (2-10, 1-6) on Tuesday.
The Hawks play again at home and host the visiting Valencia Vikings on Tuesday while Cowboys host the Saugus Centurions
Both matchups are set to begin at 3 p.m.
