An 18-year-old girl was medically transported after attempting to jump off the bridge at The Old Road and west Valencia Boulevard near the Interstate 5 overpass on Sunday evening, according to an official with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The initial call for service was about an attempted jumper over the bridge around 6:41 p.m. with bystanders trying to get her to get off the bridge, according to Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the station.
Miller said that patrol deputies were there first at the scene and were able to talk her off the bridge, and she was medically transported to a hospital in the area.
Miller added that the Mental Evaluation Team and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were there to assist.
Firefighters were dispatched at 6:43 p.m. and were on the scene at 6:48 p.m., said Saadullah Sheikh, spokesman for the Fire Department
Sheikh said they closed the call at 7 p.m.
