News release
The Santa Clarita Choral Association is scheduled Tuesday to host its 40th Anniversary Choral Festival, a milestone celebration bringing together voices from across the Santa Clarita Valley.
The festival begins 5:30 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 22833 Copper Hill Drive, Santa Clarita.
For 40 years, the SCCA — a collective of music educators teaching throughout the Santa Clarita Valley’s public and private schools, colleges and universities — has championed the vocal arts, the group said in a news release.
This year’s festival will feature more than 15 choral ensembles of all levels, including junior high, high school, college and university choirs, the release said. Students will have the opportunity to perform for one another, as well as for an audience of hundreds of parents, community members and local leaders.
“Our mission has always been to increase the visibility of choral music in our city and to create meaningful, real-world opportunities for our students,” Christine Tavares Mocha SCCA president and the director of Valencia High School choirs, said in the release. “Reaching our 40th anniversary is a testament to the dedication of our educators, the talent of our students, and the unwavering support of the Santa Clarita community.”
The event is designed not only as a performance but also to recognize the historical impact of the choral arts in the SCV and to celebrate the arts, showcasing the wide breadth of talent that makes Santa Clarita special, the release said.
