L.A. County’s Governance Reform Task Force is scheduled to hold its regular meeting at the Ryan M. Clinkunbroomer Castaic Sports Complex Wednesday, starting at 5 p.m.
The Task Force, which typically meets twice a month, was created as part of the suite of reforms to county governance passed through Measure G in 2024 to improve accountability and transparency.
That measure included several policy reforms, with milestones for accomplishing them going into the 2030s.
The measure required the county to create an independent ethics commission to “investigate misconduct, enforce ethics laws, and develop public data portals related to lobbying and government ethics,” according to the county’s website.
During its March 25 meeting, the Task Force approved recommendations for a new Ethics Commission, Office of Ethics Compliance and Ethics Compliance Officer. The report with those recommendations has been handed over to the county’s Board of Supervisors for their review.
In the meantime, the Task Force’s Subcommittee on the Independent Ethics Commission is scheduled to give a presentation on that commission Wednesday, along with several other subcommittees presenting updates, including the Subcommittee on Public Engagement Strategy.
The meeting’s agenda begins with a public comment period for members of the public to address topics with the task force under its purview, followed by a presentation by the Executive Office Board Services Division on the task force’s options for public noticing all non-urgent county legislation at least 120 hours before the county Board of Supervisors takes action on it — also a Measure G mandate.
Imprenta Communications Group will then present on its efforts to support the task force’s public engagement, followed by subcommittee reports and an oral report from the executive director.
The Ryan M. Clinkunbroomer Castaic Sports Complex is located at 31230 Castaic Road, Castaic.
