Officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are seeking the public’s assistance for leads into the investigation of a hit-and-run collision that killed a man in Valencia on Friday night.

The identification of the deceased had yet to be released pending legal next of kin as of Monday afternoon, but he was a man in his 30s, according to Kelly Vail, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner Office.

First responders were dispatched to the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and Tourney Road at 8:22 p.m.  to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision, Shirley Miller, a spokeswoman with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, said on Saturday.

The person killed was a man whose identity has yet to be released and no arrests have been made as of the publication of this story, according to Miller.

Miller added that detectives are “in the investigative stages” as of Monday afternoon.

The description of the suspected vehicle was not immediately available as of the publication of this story and the incident remains under active investigation by the SCV Sheriff Station’s Traffic Unit.

A witness at the scene said the vehicle was a Ford F-150, but that has not been confirmed by sheriff’s officials.

SCV Sheriff’s Station officials are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact Detective Cramer at 661-260-4000 ext. 5678 for possible leads into the investigation.

According to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Jonathan Torres, no transports were reported from the scene, the call was closed six minutes after the first unit arrived at the reported location, and no additional information was available.

Signal Staff Writer Kamryn Martell contributed to this report.
