California Highway Patrol Newhall-area officers participated in a pursuit of a reportedly stolen work truck Thursday that began in Sylmar and passed through the Santa Clarita Valley to the Antelope Valley, according to the CHP and first responder radio dispatch traffic.

The pursuit ended in East Kern with the suspect in handcuffs at around 11:16 a.m. The driver surrendered to CHP officers after two successful spike strip deployments that deflated the truck’s tires.

CHP took over the pursuit that was initiated by the Los Angeles Police Department, said Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, public information officer for the CHP Newhall office.

The truck appeared to be a work truck equipped for construction traffic management.

Officers spiked the truck’s tires near Avenue I in Palmdale, deflating its front tires, then an additional spike strip near Rosamond deflated at least one of the rear tires.

This is a breaking news story and additional information will be added as it becomes available.
