News release
The Raising the Curtain Foundation invites families to gather for Cowboy Family Night, a special evening of music and storytelling from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts.
“We are lucky to be able to give the community a sneak peek at some of the entertainers from the festival on the night before it opens,” Nickie DeTolve, president of Raising the Curtain Foundation, said in a news release. “Our theater offers an intimate setting that can be enjoyed by families who can listen to the musicians and sing along to some Western favorites. Not everyone can attend the weekend festivities and Cowboy Family Night gives them a chance to participate in a special way.”
This year’s program features campfire stories from award-winning cowboy poet, storyteller and festival favorite Joe Herrington, original Western tunes from singer-songwriter Joni Harms, and music from Doug Figgs, whose songs range from hard-driving Western numbers with a touch of Southern rock to beautiful ballads.
Guests can expect Western lore, stories of ranch life, reflections on twilight on the horizon, and wholesome, family-friendly fun — capped off with the ever-popular singalong, the release said.
