A social media post from a woman who some believed to be a Santa Clarita Valley elementary school teacher drew national attention on Sunday after the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents Dinner the previous night in Washington, D.C.
However, within hours of the post being made Sunday afternoon it was confirmed that there was no SCV connection to the post.
“I’ll pray for better aim,” read the post, made on social media Sunday morning after a gunman tried to storm the event and fired shots before being arrested. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were whisked away from the event by U.S. Secret Service agents. One officer was struck by gunfire but was protected by a bulletproof vest.
When the post started circulating on Sunday, multiple social media users speculated about the identity of the person who made the original post. The “Libs of TikTok” account posted the query, “Does anyone know where she works?”
Multiple social media users identified the “I’ll pray for better aim” poster as a woman who is a teacher at West Creek Academy in the Saugus Union School District.
However, local school administrators said those posts were not accurate.
“Today, there were social media posts and comments, including on our West Creek Academy PTA Facebook page, stating that a concerning TikTok post was made by one of our kindergarten teachers at West Creek Academy,” said an email from West Creek Principal Sue Bett. “The person creating the TikTok post is not and has not been a teacher at West Creek Academy. We appreciate your care for our school community.”
