Tom Steyer says he will make big corporations and billionaires more accountable and he will make them pay.
Each time he makes that claim I’m thankful I don’t have any liquid in my mouth lest I spit it out laughing. Is he so detached that he hasn’t noticed that big corporations and billionaires are leaving this state in droves? Is he so stupid that he really believes making them “more accountable” won’t make more of them leave? Or maybe he’s just counting on the lack of intelligence of the typical California voter. After all, Eric Swalwell was leading the pack a few short days ago.
Then there is this curious footnote about good ol’ Tom. He’s a billionaire who used to run a hedge fund. He also wants to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement, despite having zero authority to do so. Do you think he wants people to know that his hedge fund invested $90 million in immigrant detention centers? I mean, I’m OK with it but what about the typical California liberal? This is the best we can do in California? At least look at former San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan. He’s not my cup of tea, but at least he solved some problems. In the private sector we call that doing your job.
