Golden Valley High School celebrated nine of its student-athletes on Wednesday for signing their national letters of intent and continuing their athletic careers onto the collegiate level.
The boys’ basketball program had two players signing: Alex Villejo and Wyatt Printz.
Both players led Golden Valley to its first outright Foothill League title in 17 years en route to a quarterfinal appearance in the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section playoffs.
Chris Printz, Golden Valley High School’s assistant principal and former basketball coach for Wyatt Printz and Villejo, spoke on the success of both players and the contribution they brought to the program.
“The boys’ basketball program places a great emphasis on helping develop players so that they can go onto post-graduate success,” Chris Printz said. “We are extremely proud of Alex and Wyatt and look forward to watching them compete at the college level.”
Villejo is committed to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana and ends his high school career with the Grizzlies having eclipsed the 1,000 career-point mark in his senior season.
As for Wyatt Printz, the senior signed his national letter of intent to the University of La Verne and ended his time with Golden Valley with a second-team Foothill League selection and averaged 11.3 points per game and 7.9 rebounds.
