I’ll second Roger Ickes’ agreement (April 28) with Rob Kerchner’s claim (April 23) that many of the choices and decisions made by Democrats factor in just one consideration: It is contrary to something President Donald Trump is thinking, saying, or doing. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face (and with Trump’s inspirational guidance, Democrats have refined that to a science).
On the other hand, if and when Trump actually proposes or does something that even the staunchest Democrats cannot bring themselves to bash, they will either remain silent or take credit for it themselves. The best example of that was when Trump proposed no taxes on tips, and it didn’t even take a week before then-presidential candidate Kamala Harris proposed the very same idea (but as if she had thought of it first). The sheer absurdity is mind-blowing.
So, what do you do with people like that? Nothing, you just sit back and laugh, because to take them seriously would drive a normal person insane. At the end of the day I can bash Republicans for everything they’ve done to give birth to Democrats, but I can bash Democrats for pretty much everything else.
