Taxation must be equal, and its uses must benefit everyone equally, or else it is quite obviously unfair — like making one fellow pay the check when the other fellow gets the lobster. This is why our federal government must be limited to its singular biblical and constitutional principle: keeping the peace, for everyone.
Government bears the sword for one purpose, and one purpose only: to punish the evildoer. This is why only the general welfare is to be promoted; i.e., only those peacemaking things (law and order) that can be seen to benefit every citizen in equal measure.
In other words, government is not a funding source for forcing good ideas (which is a self-contradicting concept on its own, because good ideas never need force): government only exists to secure peaceful liberty by preventing and punishing violence.
