My name is Bryan Biggers, and I’m running for the William S. Hart Union High School District governing board in Trustee Area 2.
My wife and I grew up in Santa Clarita and graduated from Hart district schools. From preschool through Hart High and College of the Canyons, my parents, teachers and the Santa Clarita Valley community equipped me for everything that came after. I graduated from CSUN with a business degree, the first in my family with a college diploma. In 2014 I started a construction company with a good friend. Today, two of my children are students at Hart High School: a junior and a freshman.
Twelve years later, that company is still my day job. I read plans, hold bids, meet budgets, and make payroll. This experience is directly relevant to being on a school board that oversees nearly half a billion dollars annually and more than 15 campus facilities.
Over the past 15 years, I’ve coached SCV students in soccer (AYSO), Flying Phoenix Track Club, SCV flag football, and our SCVMTB student mountain bike team. Coaching is where you learn what’s actually going on with students — on the ride home, on the sideline, from a 14-year-old catching his breath at the top of a climb.
Successful students: That’s the job, and our Hart district board has a strong track record to build on. Every decision should be filtered through one question: Will this contribute to student success?
I took advanced placement classes at Hart, and I’ve spent my career in construction. I’m the product of strong academics and getting my hands dirty, and I don’t think this district has to choose between them. Students who want a demanding AP load and a competitive path to a four-year university should be able to get it. Creating and maintaining this pathway is the board’s job. And students who want to build things should have a real technical pathway that leads to a career, not just a leftover elective. Success isn’t a single route; it’s whether students are equipped with what they need to pursue what comes after.
That requires three things I’ll work on as a Hart school board trustee:
Strong teachers: Teachers are the engine of our schools — not a line item, but the engine. I will advocate to acquire great teachers, provide them adequate training, support them with the resources they need and back them up. They are the most valuable resources we have in educating our students.
Safe schools: Trained resource officers and secure campuses are critical to keeping students safe, but so is a staff who is equipped to notice and help when a student is in need. Relationships and intentional regulations are the foundation of campus safety.
Straight answers: Parents deserve a board that treats them as partners, listens well, provides straight answers, and prizes transparency in budgets, plans, and decisions.
Every student in the Hart district deserves to be safe, respected, and well taught, without exception.
I am endorsed by Bob Jensen, our retiring four-term incumbent. I grew up in these schools, I have kids in them now, and I’m running to ensure that our community continues to deliver the highest levels of education, preparation and training.
I would be honored to earn your vote this November. Thank you.
