We’re in the throes of election decision-making, and I’m writing to encourage my fellow citizens here in Santa Clarita to do the heavy lifting of researching the candidates angling for our votes. We must find candidates who actually think logically, act reasonably, and, for goodness sake, are known for integrity and virtue.
I’m writing in favor of three such candidates.
When it comes to elections, the old saying rings true: All politics is local! And nothing is more local and essential than the education of our children. In the Saugus Union School District, Anna Griese has proven to be a consistent, reasonable and virtuous leader. As a mother, she raises children and lives to nurture, protect and shape the lives of our next generation of leaders. As a Saugus school board member, she has proven her ability to see through the rhetoric, find the right path, and lead others to walk it. Vote for Anna Griese!
And when our children reach high school, we parents all know they’re entering the danger zone. But it can also be the most life-changing, character-shaping years of their lives. What we don’t need are new programs and methods that somehow push aside the goal of producing students who are proficient in math, English, reading, writing and all the other basic building blocks of mature adulthood. What we need are thinkers, not merely emotional feelers on the William S. Hart Union High School District board, and Bryan Biggers checks those boxes and deserves your vote. He is literate, a good thinker, and a hard-working business owner. As a Hart High grad, he has proven himself as a citizen, a loving husband, and the father of six children, two of whom attend Hart High. If you’re wanting a virtuous, intelligent and no-nonsense regular guy on the Hart school board, Bryan Biggers is your best choice.
Lastly, when we look around our beloved Santa Clarita, we can’t help but see that we’re not a little city anymore. Traffic is increasing, development is encroaching, and the days when members of City Council could afford just to be good ol’ folk are over. We need highly educated, creative thinkers who can not only spot the problems and work through them, but also present the reasons for their decisions in clear, intelligent sentences. I’ve known Denise Lite for many years and have found her incisive, able to penetrate arguments and plans to uncover errors or areas that need editing or supplementation to reach their best potential. She can think, and Denise Lite is not only a candidate worthy of your vote, but she is also a lifeguard who will help protect and improve our community.
Vote Anna Griese, Bryan Biggers and Denise Lite.
