Maria Gutzeit and Ken Petersen are the most highly qualified candidates for the upcoming Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency board election in Division 3 — covering Newhall, Stevenson Ranch, Castaic and Tesoro del Valle — and they deserve your vote.
Maria brings a proven track record of public service and fiscal responsibility. Having served on the Newhall County Water District board, she was instrumental in the historic consolidation into SCV Water, a move that saved ratepayers over $10 million. As the current SCV Water board president and owner of an environmental engineering firm, her deep understanding of complex regulatory frameworks is invaluable as we navigate policies to ensure clean, safe water that meets all health standards.
Ken offers over 40 years of unmatched experience designing, operating, and administering domestic water systems. His local leadership spans serving as general manager of the Newhall County Water District, engineering and operations manager at the Castaic Lake Water Agency, and general manager of the Valencia Water Co. before the merger. This extraordinary depth of knowledge uniquely positions him to guide cost-effective infrastructure solutions to tackle our valley’s groundwater contamination challenges.
Serving alongside Maria and Ken on the SCV Water board has been a privilege. They possess the exact expertise, dedication and foresight required to guarantee our community receives reliable, high-quality water at a reasonable price. Please vote to keep Maria Gutzeit and Ken Petersen working for our valley’s water future.
