I’ve never actually met Denise Lite in person. I’m not part of her inner circle, just someone who’s paid attention to Santa Clarita politics for a while, and who watched what happened to her on the Planning Commission last year.
I remember when she was removed from that post after asking pointed questions about a development deal tied to the Hartwell project. Whatever you think of the details, what stuck with me was how she handled it.
She didn’t disappear and she didn’t get bitter in public. She showed up, made her case, and kept showing up after. That’s not easy to fake under that kind of pressure.
That’s really where my support started, not from knowing her personally, but from watching her character under pressure. Since then, I’ve contributed to her campaign and have her sign in my yard, which isn’t something I do for just anyone.
For me, this comes down to believing District 2 deserves someone who’s already shown she’ll ask hard questions and stand behind them.
I’d encourage anyone still deciding to look at how Denise has actually conducted herself this past year.
That’s what won me over.
