After the second round of the girls’ golf Foothill League season on Thursday, West Ranch’s Aubrey Lee claimed medalist honors after the freshman posted a total score of 33 (-3) at Vista Valencia golf course.
As for team play, the Wildcats secured the win in the second round after the team posted a total score of 182 and extended their stroke difference over the second-place Valencia Vikings by 22 strokes.
In total, four West Ranch golfers finished under par in Thursday’s round. Zoe Greif, who claimed the overall win in the first round, shot a total of 39 (+3), and Phoebe Tsao ended the day with a score of 35 (-1).
Eva Lee joined the other three with an under-par round as she finished her round with a 35 (-1) and rounded out the low scoring day for West Ranch.
As for Valencia, the Vikings shot a total team score of 191 with Valencia’s Kara An ending the day with an even-par round of 36.
Valencia’s Eliana Saga, who’s a commit to the University of Southern California, ended the day behind Kara An and shot a total of one-over par with a 37 (+1).
In third place, the Centurions finished behind the Vikings in Thursday’s round as Saugus’ McKenze Follansbee shot the lowest score of her team with a total of 44 (+8)
The Centurions trail the second-place Vikings by 95 strokes after two rounds of play.
As for Golden Valley, the Grizzlies ended the second round in fourth place with a total team score of 270 and Jhenonna Abrot Gianetti shooting the lowest score with a 47 (+11).
The Hawks ended Thursday’s round in fifth place with a score of 282 and defeated Castaic by one stroke as the Coyotes finished in sixth with a 283.
Hart’s Scarlet Spendlove ended Thursday’s round with a 42 (+6) and led all Hawks as Castaic’s Addy Fractor led all Coyotes with a total score of 48 (+12).
The Cowboys, who did not finish the first round with an official team score, ended Thursday’s round with a 292 and ended the day with five golfers adding their totals to the team’s overall scorecard.
Canyon’s Mady Morgan led all Cowboys with a 46 (+10).
In the individual Foothill League standings, Aubrey Lee has taken command of first place in the season-long competition with a total of 69 after the first two rounds.
Lee will look to defend her first-place spot going into next week’s competition with a one-stroke lead over West Ranch’s Phoebe Tsao, who has a total score of 70 following the two opening rounds.
The Foothill League will return for its third round of play on Tuesday with teams set to play at the Oaks Club at Valencia with the tee time scheduled for noon.
