In his June 11 letter, Jack Teoli ends by saying that “voters ultimately seem to want elected officials who deliver results.” My reaction to that is twofold. On the one hand I could say, “Well, thanks for stating the obvious.” On the other hand I could say, “Well, their voting record doesn’t seem to support that notion.”
If voters really and truly want elected officials who deliver results, then why do they keep electing people who can’t deliver results? Nobody can turn lead into gold, nobody, so instead of listening to candidates telling you what they WILL do for you, try asking them what they have ALREADY done for you?
The engine of the average voter runs on a blend of gullibility and hope — that and party loyalty. Political candidates know that. I’ll let you do the math to figure out why you’re still sleeping in the beds you keep making for yourselves.
