Amidst intensive local election warfare on the opinion page, creeping socialism being embraced across the land and a 0-2 start by the second-banana Chargers, I found it somehow comforting to read today’s page one exposé (Sept. 25) about the dashing transient with the line, “After he came back from the restroom, the man began taking his clothes off, but was not pants-less, according to the deputy.”
In hindsight I realize that “pants-less” is indeed hyphenated (never doubt The Mighty Signal) and I now wonder if perhaps the transient’s significant other wears the pants in the family and he is simply an aspiring thespian steered by a bum rumor the Canyon Theatre Guild was casting a revival of “Hair” or “O, Calcutta!”
Either way I hope the door hit the snack-deprived gentleman on the way out, and until the Sheriff’s Department gets to the bottom of this — no ifs, ands or butts about it — I will be on red alert for the pants-less — I can’t stop saying it — wonder stalking the back streets of the Santa Clarita Valley so we can all put this incident behind us.
