A person was declared dead by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel on Friday morning in a Saugus shopping center, according to an official with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

According to Sgt. Mark Perkins, deputies were called to the 26500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road by L.A. County Fire to investigate the death of a person found in a vehicle.

Details on the age and gender of the person were not immediately available, according to Perkins, but preliminary information indicated the person may have died from cardiac arrest.

After conducting their investigation, deputies did not find any signs of foul play, Perkins added, and the person’s identity is pending notification next of kin.

According to L.A. County Fire spokesman Howard Tieu, first responders were dispatched to the scene at 4:57 a.m. and no transports were reported.
