A Canyon Country man who fought four sheriff’s deputies who responded to a domestic violence call was sentenced Wednesday to 27 years and eight months in prison.

Calvin Charles Lynch, 29, appeared Wednesday in San Fernando Superior Court where he was sentenced.

“Lynch was sentenced to 27 years, 8 months which is the maximum he faced,” Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, said Wednesday.

According to Deputy District Attorney Garrett Dameron, who prosecuted the case and who Dameron who handles cases for the DA’s Crimes Against Police Officers unit, Lynch received the full 27 years requested by prosecutors.

“Plus, the judge gave him eight months for a probation violation,” Dameron said.  Lynch was convicted of assaulting a peace officer in 2003.

The jury found Lynch not guilty last month of two counts of false imprisonment of a hostage pertaining to allegations that involved his six-year-old son and three-year-old daughter, said Dameron said.

Jurors also found the allegation that ‘great bodily injury was inflicted on Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Deputy Christopher Germansen’ to be true, Dameron said.

They also found to be true the allegation that Lynch personally used a knife during the crime.

During the week-long trial in October, jurors heard testimony of how deputies responded to a domestic call placed by Lynch’s wife on Jan. 21, 2016.

When deputies arrived at the couple’s apartment, they found a man barricaded inside a bedroom armed with a butcher knife with his two children, jurors heard.

Deputies convinced him to put down the knife and then rushed the bedroom and tried to free the children from their father. A physical altercation ensued between Lynch and Germansen who was seriously injured.
