A new play, “Dennis Wilson Forevermore: A Beach Boy’s Fable,” tells the story of the life and work of Beach Boy Dennis Wilson.
The play is being presented by Promenade Playhouse in Santa Monica weekly, on Fridays and Saturdays.
Based on Eric O’Meara’s original stage play, the play follows the 1960s rock star’s personal development from a “wild teenager” to a “soulful and caring yet tortured man.”
It also explores Wilson’s history with his father, relationship with his brother Brian Wilson, forays into the Manson Family and multiple marriages.
The play’s focus, Dennis Wilson, is the father of Santa Clarita resident Scott Wilson.
On Friday, November 18, Scott Wilson attended the weekly performance of the play for the first time. He was there selling copies of his book “Son of a Beach Boy,” which details the true story of the relationship between Scott Wilson and his rock ‘n’ roll father.
The 90-minute play will continue Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. until Dec. 17.
Copies of his book can be found on amazon.com, Barnes and Noble Booksellers and other book retailers.
