Hasley Canyon Road, between Del Valle Road and Sloan Canyon Road in Castaic, was re-opened as of about 1:30 Monday afternoon following a morning traffic mishap in which a car struck a fire hydrant, causing water to spout near electrical wires, the California Highway Patrol said.
The incident was reported just after 10 a.m. after a driver lost control of a Honda Insight. No one was injured in the one-car crash, the CHP said.
The affected section of Hasley Canyon Road was closed while county firefighters turned off the water and road crews cleaned up displaced gravel, said officer Josh Greengard, public information officer of the CHP’s Newhall station.
No electrical outages were reported.
As of about 2:30 p.m., most of the displaced gravel was cleaned up and traffic was again flowing, but another sweep from the county roads department was scheduled for later in the day.
