A magnitude 2.7 earthquake struck the Santa Clarita area at 6:08 p.m., according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake was centered near Placerita Canyon Road, just west of Sierra Highway in Santa Clarita at a depth of about 1,968 feet.

More than 100 people took to The Signal’s Facebook page to report feeling the quake.

“I’m at work and felt my chair move side to side,” said Bryan CaloPartchBryan, who was located near Smyth Drive in Valencia at the time the quake struck.

“Felt more than a 2.7, it felt like two jolts, a small one and a second later, a stronger one,” said Denis Ciccone.

“Boom, then rocked, still rolling,” said Linda Greenwell Mays, who was in Newhall near Calgrove Boulevard and Wiely Canyon Road at the time.

No reports of damage were available immediately following the quake.
