Trinity wrestling earns second place in league

The Trinity Classical Academy wrestling team earned second place in the Heritage League after competing in their final league team dual on Thursday night.

The Knights went 2-1 at the tournament-style contest, which was held at de Toledo High of Los Angeles.

“I think it was all the hard tournaments we did earlier in the season,” said coach Jim Johnson. “We were just going up against much bigger programs. We were trying to toughen them up.”

Alex Moser had his first two wins, one of which was a pin, in the 126 weight class. Sumner Howell, who dropped down from 152 to 145 had two pins and Ben McGillicuddy (120) had a pin of his own.

Trinity will compete in a non-league tournament this week, then compete in the Heritage League Individual Meet on Feb. 2.
