Chilly temperatures and light rain are in the forecast early this week, but high temperatures and sunny skies are expected to greet Santa Clarita as the rain drys up.

“After the light rain today, there will be more light rain tonight and Monday,” said David Sleet on Sunday, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Cold temperatures are also expected to accompany the rain on Sunday and Monday, with highs in the the mid 50s and lows in the mid to lower 40s.

The Grapevine area may see about an inch of snow on Sunday and maybe even more in the evening.

“You want to be cautious of any ice on the road way that may cause loss of vehicle control,” Sleet said.

National Weather Service’s forecast predicts temperatures to slowly rise as the week progresses.

“It is going to dry out by Monday and slowly warm up later in the week,” Sleet said.

“High temperatures will be in the 60s to lower 70s.”
