Residents urged to use caution in high winds

The Los Angeles County Fire Dept. has issued a Strong Wind Advisory, with winds expected to reach 70 to 80 mph, for the Santa Clarita Valley, including Castaic, Val Verde, Agua Dulce and Gorman.

The high/strong wind advisory in effect for the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities tonight through tomorrow morning.

Officials urge residents to use caution and be aware of your surroundings at all times, as there is the potential for downed power lines, downed trees, and falling branches.

Experts say to be careful and aware when driving in high wind, especially if you are in a high profile vehicle, they advised.

Residents can receive emergency notifications from public safety personnel via email or text by completing an online form at santa-clarita.com/ealerts or by texting “SCEMERGENCY” to the number “888777.”
