College of the Canyons softball swept Victor Valley in a double-header at home on Tuesday afternoon, winning 12-0 in the first game and 11-3 in the second.
“It always feels good to have a double-header under your belt,” said coach John Wissmath. “(We have) a lot of games this week, and in conference every game counts.”
In the first game, Danielle Chatman had an RBI single, then Sienna Vannoy tripled to left center for two RBIs in the third inning.

Alexis Ramirez singled for an RBI to cap the inning and give the Cougars (12-2-2 overall, 3-0 in Western State Conference, East) a 4-0 lead.
COC scored eight runs in the fourth inning to pull away. The game ended early after the top of the fifth.
Victor Valley scored two runs to start the second game, but the Cougars countered with five of their own in the bottom of the first to pull ahead.
The Rams dented the scoreboard one last time in the second inning, followed by an RBI triple from Micayla Aguilar and a sacrifice fly from Vannoy that brought the score to 7-3.
The Cougars put up four more runs in the third and fourth innings combined, which included a two-run home run from Vannoy.
“She’s been on fire lately,” Wissmath said of Vannoy. “She’s been swinging the bat well. She’s got a lot of runs and she’s been coming through clutch with winners and scoring.”
The Cougars remain undefeated in conference play but expect to be challenged against Antelope Valley and Citrus in the coming weeks.
“It’s kind of nice to have a strong conference so when you play big games you feel prepared,” Wissmath said. “So the wins are good, no doubt, but we’ve got a long way to go.”
