West Ranch High baseball remained undefeated in the Foothill League on Friday, taking down Canyon High 10-0 on the road.

Wildcat twins Ryan and Jovan Camacho had stellar days, each recording two hits and three RBIs.

“They are the real deal,” West Ranch coach Casey Burrill said of the Camachos.

Will Chambers also had two hits and an RBI for the Cats.

The Wildcats (8-3 overall, 4-0 in Foothill League) opened up the scoring with a three-run first inning. Chambers kicked off the scoring with an RBI single, then Nico Valdez scored on a wild pitch. Ryan Camacho bunted in a run.

The Cats didn’t score again until the fifth inning.

“I think it’s important that we get an early lead in the game,” Burrill said. “But it didn’t seem to last all that long. It felt good early, but the game went longer and longer and longer. Tribute to Canyon for keeping things close.”

When the scoreboard was dented in the fifth, the levy broke and there was nothing Canyon (0-10, 0-4) could do.

It began when Ryan Camacho banged out a two-run triple. Austin Hernandez hit an RBI triple, then Jovan Camacho put the icing on the cake with a three-run triple. Nico Valdez hit a sacrifice fly to close out the inning.

“After a big inning like that, there’s a sigh of relief that we can cruise through the rest of the game,” Burrill said. “I thought Canyon kept it close and played real well for the first half, but we’re pleased to be 4-0 going into a big game against Valencia.”

The Vikings are also undefeated in league and will face the Wildcats on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

“We’re going to have to do everything right,” Burrill said. “I think whoever cracks will be who suffers the loss. Both teams will play a balanced game. We’re going to see two real good pitchers. Both teams playing good defense, and there’s some hot bats on both sides.”
