Officials have made an arrest in connection with the fatal stabbing that was discovered in the Vista Del Canon neighborhood in Santa Clarita Saturday night. Detectives learned about the incident around 5:46 p.m. when the victim’s mother called the SCV Sheriff’s Station from the Burbank area saying that her daughter’s live-in girlfriend was involved in a verbal altercation with her daughter. The mother was in the presence of the suspect at the time. The girlfriend told the victim’s mother that there was an assault during the altercation. Local law enforcement responded to the call and detained the suspect at the mother’s residence. “A suspect was arrested and transported to Santa Clarita Valley,” said Deputy Lisa Jansen with the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. That same night, deputies with the SCV Sheriff’s Station responded to the 18700 block of Vista Del Canon near Sierra Highway and Via Princessa. They made a forced entry with a battering ram and discovered a deceased female who had at least one stab wound. L.A. County Fire officials announced the female was dead on arrival. The arrested suspect is at the SCV Sheriff’s Station where she will be questioned by homicide detectives. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
