A two-car mid-day crash at the Valencia intersection near last months’s double fatality sent one car up onto the sidewalk next to a tree and the other onto a separate sidewalk with extensive front end damage.
Although the solo occupant drivers of each car received medical attention at the scene, neither was taken to the hospital.
The traffic collision happened at shortly before 2 p.m. on Decoro Drive just east of McBean Parkway.
Firefighters and paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at the crash and immediately administered medical aid to the drivers – a woman who sat cross-legged on the southside sidewalk of Decoro and a man who suffered an injury to his head who sat on the northside sidewalk.
The woman was identified by witnesses and deputies as the driver of a black Dodge Charger which ended up on the sidewalk, and had flipped onto its passenger side.
The injured man was identified as the driver of a silver-colored Nissan Altima.
A deputy investigating the crash who interviewed both drivers said: “This vehicle (Altima) exited from here and collided with the other car.”
The deputy was referring to the parking lot of the Ralphs Grocery Store at McBean and Decoro.
“I heard it from my house,” said one man who ran to the scene of the collision. “I heard three big bangs – bang, bang, bang.”
A woman at the store plaza gave a towel she had in her car to the injured Altima driver.
“I gave him my towel, It has blood on it. He can keep it,” she said.
The crash comes on the heels of a traffic collision that happened a month ago on McBean at Decoro which claimed the lives of 18-year-old Hart High School grad Collin Charles Gore and 34-year-old Joel Thomas Godfrey, both of Santa Clarita.
