The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce’s HR Coffee Talk series will return next month with a presentation on turning workplace conflict into growth opportunities.
Carolina Caro, CEO of Pasadena-based Parinama Consulting, will speak beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, at TPC Valencia. Her presentation, titled “Conflict in the Workplace: Turning Problems into Opportunities,” is sponsored by Applied Resource Insurance Solutions.
“In much the same way that family members or friendships will form stronger bonds after being challenged by conflict, teams need to cultivate the skills to manage conflict productively such that they will emerge from it having forged deeper respect and trust for one another,” Caro said. “This requires that individuals learn some of the basics involved in producing conflict and how to deal with it appropriately. We will explore how emotions are involved when we are triggered and how this can often lead to a part of our brain being hijacked such that we lose the ability to think clearly and we resort to our ‘reptilian’ brain which is known for the flight, flee or freeze response.”
