The Santa Clarita Valley’s specialty bakery The Pie Tin is going up for sale, owners announced Thursday.
“We are suffering from our own success,” co-owner Laura Jardine said in a statement of the business, located at 26555 Golden Valley Rd in Santa Clarita. “We have grown and are not able to manage the shop and continue in our careers and be able to spend time with our family,” she added. “Something had to change.”
She and husband Troy said the plan was to expand the family-owned and operated business into a franchise over time but faced challenges with time and resources to operate properly.
The Jardines then decided instead of closing down the business altogether, they would make it available to a new owner with the potential to execute their vision.
“We are hoping to sell it so that the community can continue to enjoy what we have started,” Laura said Friday.
Troy said the decision was a difficult one for them “(b)ut our family has to come first and we didn’t want to diminish the great experience we had created at The Pie Tin.”
While not many have heard of the pie shop’s sale, those who have “understand that our family comes first. They are supportive and proud of what we’ve established,” said Laura.
The business opened its doors to the public in 2017, thanks to Laura’s love of pies. Her long search for bakeries that offered pies prompted her and the family of four to create The Pie Tin concept.
Their selections run from classic fruit pies to more fanciful options like s’mores and Bourbon pecan, as well as savory bites such as pot roast pie and chicken pot pie.
