Emergency response crews were dispatched to a construction site on Sierra Highway for reports of a vehicle colliding with a utility pole, knocking it down.
The incident happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Sierra at Remsen Street.
“This (call) was for a vehicle into a pole,” said Marvin Lim, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The crash sent power lines crashing across both lanes of Sierra Highway.
Work crews with Southern California Edison were called to the incident to safely remove the downed lines.
Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station shut down traffic in both directions on Sierra while the wires were being removed.
