“The jury’s out: The merger of the various water districts in the Santa Clarita Valley has been a huge success, thanks to legislative work and water board leadership. A big congratulations for that goes to SCV Water Agency General Manager Matt Stone.”

— Richard Budman, Signal Publisher/Owner

In managing the water resources for hundreds of thousands of Santa Clarita Valley residents and ratepayers, Matt Stone is faced with decisions that daily impact our lives. The development of a community that could as much as double in size over the next 30 years means that we must have a steward that will make sure we manage our water resources responsibly.

Stone joined what was then known as the Castaic Lake Water Agency in 2015, not long before it began the process of merging with the Newhall County Water District. He led the merger of the two agencies into what we now know as the SCV Water Agency, which was created by legislation authored by Sen. Scott Wilk.

Whether it’s making sure that these future developments have an adequate supply of water or that we have the facilities, projects and outreach in place, Stone makes sure the SCV Water Agency is always running smoothly.
