“Michael Berger, a College of the Canyons governing board member and senior vice president at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, provides experience and expertise that benefits the Santa Clarita Valley business and nonprofit communities in a number of ways.”

— Richard Budman, Signal Publisher/Owner

Michael Berger, a recipient of COC’s prestigious Silver Spur award, has been a contributor to education and nonprofits long before his first election to his Santa Clarita Community College District board seat in 2009. He served a dozen years as a member of the Planning Commission for the city of Santa Clarita.

In addition to the Michael Hoefflin Foundation and the Santa Clarita Valley Child & Family Center, Berger’s support for the community has also earned him a Santa Clarita Valley Man of the Year Award. This award is determined by past winners, who are recognized for work with various nonprofit organizations. His generosity includes years of support for groups that help children with special needs, and the Barlow Hospital in Los Angeles. In addition, he’s involved with the SCV Rotary Club and the SCV Chamber of Commerce.

A 30-year resident of the SCV, Berger is committed to giving back to where he and his family live.
