“County Supervisor Kathryn Barger is the type of leader the Santa Clarita Valley needs. Barger is not afraid to be the lone voice on L.A. County’s Board of Supervisors if that’s what it takes to represent the best interests of the residents in our community.”

— Richard Budman, Signal Publisher/Owner

L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger represents the 5th District, which includes the Santa Clarita Valley.  Despite having more than 2 million constituents, Barger always has time for Santa Clarita Valley residents.

Barger is a longtime representative of the 5th District. This experience imminently qualifies her to make decisions on behalf of the SCV’s populace, whether she’s authorizing transport vans to assist those with mental health issues or introducing an effort to get the Santa Clarita Valley more money to help with the statewide homeless crisis. Last year, Barger focused heavily on homelessness, calling for collaboration between government agencies, nonprofits and faith-based groups. Her work has directly benefited the SCV in the form of grant funds for the nonprofit Bridge to Home to transition operations from seasonal shelter to a year-round shelter.

Whether it’s dealing with a statewide housing crisis, mental health concerns or a public safety issue, we know our county supervisor has our best interests in mind.
