What better way to help a cause than to burn some calories?
The Santa Clarita Sister Cities held its annual Zumba marathon titled “Black and White Zumbathon for a Cause” last weekend at the Centre.
Jocelyn Reyes, board member and secretary for the city’s Sister Cities initiative, said that the fundraiser is meant to assist with programs to promote international goodwill and cultural understanding between local residents and people from international cities.
“Every day we want to grow. Doesn’t matter if you’re young or old, life is a continuous process of learning, of growing, and evolving,” she said on the importance of spreading cultural understanding.

Dozens of residents and Zumba enthusiasts attended the fundraiser to break a sweat dancing to current hits.
Among those dancers was Kim Buckley, who also served as a sponsor because she truly believes in the mission, she said.
“It’s just wonderful, especially with the Zumba community, they’re so close-knit, we all know each other so it’s great coming together for a good cause,” she added.
The Sister Cities Santa Clarita chapter in the past has collected and distributed books and school supplies to other Sister Cities schools, provided COVID-19 relief goods, and provided desks for students in other countries, according to the organization’s website.
