First responders were quick to extinguish a chimney fire on the 26000 block of Moreno Drive in the early hours of Sunday evening.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the call at around 4:30 p.m., according to Chief Kristian Litz, a battalion chief with the Fire Department who was on the scene.
Litz said that when firefighters first got to the home, there was heavy smoke and some flames coming from the top of the chimney.
He added that the owners of the home were burning firewood in their fireplace.

“Just due to time and length of how long these chimneys (have) been around, sometimes things happen where the separation of cracks in the metal, and somehow the heat got out and connected into the top of the chimney structure, which caused the fire,” Litz said.
There were no reported injuries, and the damage was isolated to only the chimney, Litz said.
“Just a reminder (to) everybody that burns wood and has fireplaces and utilizes them. They’re a great, great thing to have warmth in the house. However, just make sure you get your chimneys cleaned on a regular basis and make sure that you’re safe when you when you do it,” Litz said.
