West Ranch alumnus Ryan Staub, who spent the past three seasons with the Colorado Buffaloes, announced he’s transferring to the University of Tennessee.
According to a report by ESPN, Staub revealed on Sunday he’s joining the Volunteers after a number of visits to Cincinnati, Kentucky, Ohio State, and Liberty before winding up in Knoxville, where the University of Tennessee is located.

With two years of eligibility remaining, Staub joins one of the premier college football programs in the Southeastern Conference.
Staub wrapped up his redshirt sophomore season as his most productive year, throwing for 427 yards along with three touchdowns in four games before Kaidon Salter replaced him.
During his time with the Buffaloes, Staub received limited playing time under head coach Deion Sanders throughout the three years as he tallied 681 career passing yards on 53-for-99 passing attempts.
The Buffaloes finished the 2025 season with a 3-9 overall record and 1-8 in the Big 12 conference.
The decision comes after Staub entered the transfer portal on Dec. 29 and joins a quarterback room with only two other players in redshirt freshman George MacIntyre and incoming freshman Faizon Brandon.
