A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a city of Santa Clarita Transit bus in Castaic early Wednesday morning, according to an official with the California Highway Patrol Newhall-area Office.
The man was approximately 57 years old, according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesman for the CHP.
The initial call came in at 7:34 a.m. reporting a collision of a pedestrian and a school bus at the intersection of Green Hill Drive and Pinto Place, Burgo-Lopez said in a phone interview Wednesday morning.
When officers arrived on the scene, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel declared the man deceased on the scene, Burgos-Lopez said.

He added that the bicyclist may have drifted into the lane of the bus.
There was one passenger in the bus at the time of the crash but had left the scene when CHP officers arrived on the scene, Burgos-Lopez said in a news release sent out Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the bus was still at the scene, he said in the news release.
Keith Navarre, spokesman for the Fire Department, said firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 7:33 a.m. and arrived a few minutes later.
There were no transports reported, Navarre said.
Carrie Lujan, spokeswoman for the city of Santa Clarita, declined to comment at the time of this publication.
L.A. County Medical Examiner officials have yet to release the name of the man, pending identification and legal notification of next of kin.
This is a breaking news story, and more information will be added as it becomes available.
