The Northeast Valley Health Corp. celebrated the expansion of its Santa Clarita Valley resources in Canyon Country on Wednesday.

The new building adds 7,703 square feet of new clinical space, which includes six new exam rooms, dedicated counseling offices, an expanded nursing station and a laboratory drawing station, according to an email Thursday from Jose Plaza, communications director for NEVHC.

Christopher Reed, who was named CEO for the NEVHC in August, wrote in an email Thursday, that the new space will help the organization increase its local services in an area where it anticipates a lot of growth.

Reed wrote that the build “reflects what’s possible when health care providers, community leaders and partners come together with a shared commitment to community health,” in a message sent by Plaza.

“The Santa Clarita Valley continues to grow, and our goal is to grow alongside the community. With this expansion, we project the ability to provide up to 15,000 additional clinical visits and welcome as many as 7,000 new patients,” he said.

The expansion of the office was helped by a $400,000 state budget request from Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo, D-Chatsworth, who was on hand to recognize the new facility, along with Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste.

“When you’re sick, you should be able to focus on healing, not worrying about if you can access the health care you need. The Northeast Valley Health Corp. has been a trusted health care provider to our community for decades,” Schiavo wrote in an email Thursday. “In a time when health care access is increasingly out of reach for families across the valley, we have been able to support NEVHC’s doubling of the care they provide at the Santa Clarita Health Center.”

Plaza also noted in an email that the expansion is expected to accommodate 15,000 additional clinical visits annually. Two of the new services now available are lactation consulting and polyp removals.

The NEVHC has four clinics in the region, including two in the SCV, which provides services to approximately 22,000 patients annually, according to a 2025 story.

The facilities, according to a previous news release, rely on Medicaid to provide cost-effective care to low-income families, and their Women, Infants and Children facility works to support under-resourced women, new mothers and young children.

The organization first came to the area in 1995, with the Santa Clarita Health Center on Soledad Canyon opening in 2010.
