The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce is calling on the community to help shine a spotlight on the veterans who continue to make a lasting difference in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Nominations are now open for the chamber’s 16th Annual Salute to Patriots, an event dedicated to recognizing veterans whose service, leadership and commitment continue to strengthen the local business community, the chamber announced in a news release.
The annual celebration is scheduled to take place 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the SCV Senior Center, Bella Vida, bringing together local business and community leaders to honor veterans whose contributions extend far beyond their years in uniform, the release said.
“Salute to Patriots is one of the most meaningful ways we can recognize the extraordinary contributions of veterans in our community,” Di Thompson, chair of the SCV Chamber board, said in the release. “From their service in uniform to their leadership in the Santa Clarita business community, these individuals exemplify commitment, courage and integrity. It is a privilege to celebrate their stories and inspire others through their achievements.”
Each year, the SCV Chamber recognizes four to six veterans who have made a meaningful contribution to the Santa Clarita Valley business community.
“This is about more than honoring what our veterans did for our country, it’s about recognizing what they continue to do for our community,” Ivan Volschenk, president/CEO of the SCV Chamber, said in the release. “Our veterans understand what it means to lead, to serve, to persevere, and to put something bigger than themselves first. Those values don’t end when the uniform comes off. They show up in our workplaces, our businesses, our neighborhoods, and in the people they mentor and inspire. The chamber is proud to stand behind the men and women who have stood up for our country. We want every veteran in the Santa Clarita Valley to know that their service is seen, their contributions matter, and their leadership continues to make our community stronger. We encourage everyone to take a moment to nominate a veteran whose story deserves to be recognized and celebrated.”
Nominations are open through Friday, Oct. 16, and eligible nominees are veterans who have positively impacted the Santa Clarita Valley business community. Candidates running for public office in this election year are not eligible. Honorees will be announced in advance of the event. Nominations can be submitted online at scvchamber.com/events.
