College of the Canyons freshman Jordan Palmer, pictured here during Oxy Distance Carnival hosted by Occidental College in March, recorded a season-best throw of 14.99m (49’ 2.25”) in the shot put event at the UCLA Rafer Johnson /Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational at Drake Stadium on Saturday. Palmer finished 13th in the event standings but holds the No. 3 ranked mark in the state, and top spot in the region, among community college athletes.
